Unionistas will play host to the La Liga champions on January 17, and their players are excited about the challenge.

Video footage during the Copa de Rey draw saw the team’s players breaking out into wild celebrations as they found out they would be facing Xavi’s men.

Unionistas looking to upset La Liga champions

While they are excited about facing the legendary side in the next round, they also believe they can spring an upset.

Speaking after the draw, Unionistas’ Alfred Planas talked about how they wanted to face Barcelona while they were not at their best form, Barca Universal reported.

“We know that Barça are not at their best at the moment. I think that anything can happen in a single match and playing in our stadium,” Planas said.

Barcelona squeaked through to next round

Unionistas are not wrong to think they can defeat the Catalan side, especially after the last round of results. The third-tier side beat Villarreal to book their place in the Round of 16, while Barcelona had a fight on their hands against Unión Deportiva Barbastro.

The fourth-tier side lost the game 3-2, but gave Xavi’s men a real scare, 90 Min reported.

Barcelona draw Napoli in UEFA Champions League

The draw for the Round of 16 fixtures for the UEFA Champions League has served up some mouth-watering clashes among Europe's big teams.

The draw, which was conducted on December 18, 2023, revealed the eight matches to be played from February 2024 as the race for the Wembley final heats up.

The standout fixture of the round is set to be when Italian champions, Napoli lock horns with Spanish counterparts, Barcelona, Sports Brief reported.
