- Late Prophet T.B. Joshua is back in the spotlight following a BBC report
- The popular televangelist once predicted that Nigeria would win the AFCON
- The Super Eagles have won the competition three times, with the last being in 2013
The late General Overseer of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, has been on the news due to the recent report from BBC throwing light on some of his deeds during his lifetime.
Pastor T.B Joshua, as he is popularly called, was known for his philanthropic nature and the miracles he claimed to have performed.
He was also known for predicting things that could happen, especially in football.
In 2009, he correctly predicted that Ghana's satellites would win the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt. He did the same a year earlier when Ghana knocked Nigeria out of the Nations Cup.
When TB Joshua predicted Eagles' AFCON Triumph
In 2013, the Super Eagles of Nigeria were crowned the winners of the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa for the third time in history.
Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso courtesy of a lone strike from former Nigerian international Sunday Mba, according to a report by Daily Post.
Before the final, T.B. Joshua acknowledged that it would be a tricky tie between both teams, but the Super Eagles would win, and after the game, he spoke about his prediction coming to pass.
"I told you that the Eagles' case was like the biblical Jacob who wrestled with God, saying that he would not let Him go unless God blessed him. I saw the victory coming," he said.
When Angel Gomes visited TB Joshua
Sports Brief earlier reported when England U21 international Angel Gomes was spotted in TB Joshua's church. In a trending video shared on social media, Gomes identified himself as a 16-year-old whose parents are followers of the televangelist.
Addressing the congregation, he recounted the challenges he faced due to recurring injuries, including issues with his hip, groin, and ankle. These injuries often struck at crucial moments, preventing him from participating in important tournaments, matches, and breakthrough opportunities.
