FootballPaul Pogba: Authorities Identify New Suspect in Kidnapping Case of Juventus Midfielder
- A childhood friend of Paul Pogba has been indicted in his kidnapping case
- Investigations into the extortion ring that nabbed the midfielder continue
- His brother, Mathias Pogba was repeatedly mentioned as the mastermind
Paul Pogba's high-profile case of blackmail, extortion, and kidnapping is far from over after French authorities have reportedly identified a new suspect.
The incident gained worldwide traction in late 2022 after it emerged that Pogba's elder brother, Mathias Pogba, might have orchestrated the extortion ring.
Mathias spent a couple of days in police custody as he was quizzed over the alleged abduction of Pogba in March 2023.
The former Manchester United midfielder reportedly told authorities that while with the French national team, he went to visit his childhood friends, who took him to a flat in Lagny-sur-Marne and held him at gunpoint, as previously reported by Marca.
His brother wasn't present at that time, with his captors demanding €13 million as 'protection fees'.
New suspect is known to Pogba
New information has now revealed that one of Pogba's friends, identified as Adama C, has also been indicted in the abduction. Adama was with Pogba that day and told authorities he was also a victim - a fact that Pogba corroborated per GFFN.
Authorities have since unravelled new messages that show Adama might have actually been involved in the planning of the kidnapping and subsequent extortion. The apartment where Pogba was held was discovered to have been rented out in Adama's name.
Furthermore, WhatsApp messages between him and another person identified as Mamadou are said to have revealed how they planned to get at least €25 million from Pogba. Mamadou was already indicted for the crimes and the investigation continues.

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old midfielder is currently grappling with other issues after he was found guilty of doping, resulting in a ban of at least four years.
