Real Madrid's pursuit of Kylian Mbappe has returned to the headlines with the club's president, Florentino Perez, appearing to confirm the potential transfer.
The Spanish giants, once close to securing his services before a change of heart from the player a couple of seasons ago, have not been shy about their interest.
Despite friction over Mbappe's decision to extend his PSG contract back in 2022, instead of a move to Madrid, Los Blancos' desire for him remains as his current deal approaches its end.
With the 25-year-old nearing the final stretch of his contract at Parc des Princes, he is now free to engage in pre-contract discussions with any club in the world, including Real Madrid.
Adding weight to the ongoing transfer saga, a video on social media - seen by Sports Brief - featured Perez seemingly hinting that his club were still keen on the 2018 World Cup winner.
In the clip on X, which is not dated, he responded to a fan asking about the signing of Mbappe, with his reply translated as follows: "Yes, yes, but not this year."
This comes off the back of French media outlet, Foot Mercato's report - via GOAL - suggesting the World Cup winner has already agreed to a deal to transfer to the Spanish capital when his contract expires in the summer.
Meanwhile, Mbappe's goal-scoring spree continued unabated in the new year, showcasing a hat-trick and an assist as PSG demolished sixth-tier club, US Revel, 9-0 in the French Cup, solidifying their spot in the next round.
The France national captain, who doubles as PSG's record goal-scorer, has been remarkable this term, tallying a record of 25 goals and three assists in 24 matches across all competitions, per Transfermarkt.
