- The defender who joined Cleopatra FC has heaped praises on the South African coach
A former Al Ahly of Egypt star, Saad Samir, has disclosed that Pitso Mosimane was not responsible for his decision to leave the club.
Having grown through the club's youth system, Samir spent 12 years with the outfit and also played under the South African tactician.
Currently a defender at Cleopatra FC, Samir insisted that there was a cordial relationship with Mosimane and players at his former club.
Samir was sent to Future FC on loan, but last summer, he secured a permanent move to Cleopatra.
He was forced to move to Future, having dropped down the pecking order under Mosimane, who preferred other players like Yasser Ibrahim, Badr Benoun, Ayman Ashraf and Rami Rabia.
Speaking on the South African coach, Samir confirmed he had nothing to do with his Al Ahly exit, per Kingfut:
"After my return from injury, the period of COVID-19 came, and Mosimane arrived at Al Ahly for the Wydad games in the semi-final of the Champions League before facing Zamalek in the final.
"At that time, it was a tight and difficult period, and there was no time to think about oneself but rather to win the title. This also applies to Walid Soliman, who was not regularly participating then.
Samir also stated emphatically that Mosimane's relationship with the players had always been good.
He added that he was injured before the final against Zamalek, but Mosimane still added him to the matchday squad to boost his morale.
