The Karim Benzema story: From being banned from the France national team to winning the Ballon d'Or
FootballBenzema: Manchester United Advised To Sign Ronaldo’s Ex Real Madrid Teammate Based in Saudi
- Ex-Man United striker Luis Saha has advised the Red Devils to sign Karim Benzema
- He believes the 36-year-old could be instrumental in transforming the Red Devils' attack
- Benzema currently plays for Al Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League but is reportedly not happy
Former Manchester United striker Luis Saha has recommended that the team consider acquiring Karim Benzema, the former Real Madrid captain.
Saha, now a pundit after transitioning from professional play, believes Benzema's goal-scoring prowess could address the current scoring issues at Old Trafford.
Although Saha's suggestion of United signing Benzema might seem unconventional, the 36-year-old's track record as Real Madrid's second all-time leading scorer supports his standing as one of the top finishers in football.
Benzema's stint in Saudi
Unlike his former Real Madrid colleague Cristiano Ronaldo, who has excelled since moving to the Middle East, the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner has faced challenges following his free transfer to Al Ittihad.
Despite Benz's personal record of 12 goals and five assists in 20 games for Al Ittihad across various competitions, per Transfermarkt, the team's performance hasn't significantly benefited from his contributions.
The Tigers, struggling in their title defence, currently hold the seventh spot with 28 points, lagging 12 points behind the top three and 25 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal.
Karim's reported disagreements with manager Nuno Espirito Santo led to the latter's dismissal following a two-nil loss in the AFC Champions League in November.
Saha wants Benzema at Man United
Despite these circumstances, Saha remains optimistic that his fellow Frenchman could provide valuable assistance to Manchester United.
“Benzema would change [Manchester] United’s attack and that is exactly what they need," the 45-year-old said via Football 365 as quoted by Daily Post.
Saha is convinced that Benzema's presence would significantly improve goal-scoring and enhance overall gameplay.
