- Mikel Arteta has delivered a defiant message about Arsenal despite their recent dip in performance
- Arteta's side endured back-to-back defeats, causing the Gunners to lose their top spot in the EPL
- Meanwhile, the Spaniard and his charges will have a chance to redeem themselves against Liverpool
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta conveyed a resolute message despite his team's recent struggle on the field.
Their hopes for a Premier League title took a hit with consecutive defeats to West Ham United and Fulham, resulting in a tumble from the top of the table at Christmas to their current fourth-place standing.
Looking forward to their upcoming FA Cup clash against Liverpool on Sunday, January 7, Arteta addressed the looming fixture while contemplating his team's recent downturn in performance.
"It affects momentum because we were top on Christmas, and now we are fourth," he began as quoted by Tribuna.
"You can be very tempted to look with the microscope or with the telescope and have a bit more perspective.
"My job, big time, is to look with the telescope and have perspective and analyse things in the broader way and not get affected by one performance.
The former Man City assistant manager looked back at their recent match against Fulham, expressing disappointment about his team's failure to meet the anticipated performance standards.
"Not result, one performance. That’s all I have done to reinforce and tell them how good they are, except there were periods in the game against Fulham where we didn’t hit the levels that we wanted to earn the right to win a football match."
Arteta's defiant message despite dip
Meanwhile, the 41-year-old has shifted focus from the disappointing loss to their London rivals, indicating that the Gunners will soon return to their former top form, delivering consistent results.
