Football manager Stuart Baxter has been sacked from Indian football club Odisha FC after making shocking rape comments. Baxter made these comments in his latest post-match interview.

The 67-year-old football coach joined the Indian Super League club back in August 2020. He was visibly frustrated with the decisions that were made by match officials in their 1-0 defeat against Jamshedpur on Monday.

The coach is known for sometimes making controversial comments but this time he might have taken it too far.

Baxter suggested that one of his players would have to rape someone or rape themselves if they wanted to be awarded a penalty.

Odisha FC then made it known that they would be dealing with the matter privately, which then resulted in Baxter losing his job at the club.

"We at Odisha FC unreservedly apologise and club management will be dealing with this matter internally," said the club in an official statement.

The club then released a statement saying that they would be dismissing Baxter with immediate effect for his comments. They also said that they would be appointing an interim coach to replace him soon.

Odisha FC is currently at the bottom of the Indian Super League and has had a poor run of form with only eight points from the last 14 games.

In other sports news, Briefly.co.za reported that Bongani Zungu's market value plunged as he gets no game time with Rangers. Bongani Zungu's market value is taking a big blow due to the fact that he is getting minimum game time with Scottish side Rangers FC.

The young South African player is now worth an estimated R22million. This is shockingly low considering the player was worth a whopping R65 million during his peak in 2018/2019.

His low game time, which is an unfortunate part of Coach Steven Gerrard’s plan for his teams' success, has cost him gravely.
