The power of the fans has reigned supreme in the Carling Knockout Cup. Carling Black Label have planned a footballing party at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium and will want every available star in attendance.
The Carling Knockout All-Star match will be a two-hour footnote in what is being billed as a one-day music and entertainment festival day that will bring the town to a standstill.
A host of celebrity performers have been confirmed for the lineup to thrill fans on stage but one seemingly ineligible name keeps cropping up in the football starting XI.
Kaizer Chiefs stated twice in December that Itumeleng Khune would not be eligible for selection yet a reviewed starting lineup and an explanation for Khune's inclusion has been published.
Amakhosi are believed to have retreated on their stance, as reported by iDiski Times, as the statements released are no longer visible in the club's website archives.
According to the selection rules, the All-Star XI must be made up of six PSL players and five DStv Diksi players.
Only four players from one club can make the starting line-up and Khune's inclusion has caused a reshuffle in the team announced in late December.
Only five players from the initial announcement have been retained, making way for the likes of TS Galaxy's Pogiso Samoka and Amazulu's Victor Letsoalo.
The winners of the game will receive R2 million, with the runners-up sharing R 1 million in prize money.
