- He is in the final year of his three-year contract at the Italian capital club
- He announced a new Netflix documentary about him is on its way
Jose Mourinho signed for AS Roma in 2021, but his journey could have been different if he had backtracked on his verbal agreement and moved elsewhere.
Mourinho had been without a club since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in April 2021, a few days before the 2021 Carabao Cup final, which the club lost to Manchester City.
Surprisingly, Roma announced the Portuguese boss had signed a three-year contract and will begin work after the delayed Euro 2021, held across multiple European cities.
He broke the club’s trophy drought by winning the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League in his first season and reached the Europa League final in the second year.
Mourinho announces Netflix documentary
In their usual style, Mourinho's side had a comeback 2-1 win over Cremonese in the Coppa Italia to set up a Derby della Capitale against Lazio in the quarter-final.
Speaking at the post-match conference via Foot Italia, he dropped a bombshell that a documentary will be released soon on Netflix, where he will expose the club that tried to get him to break his agreement with Roma.
“A giant documentary about me will be released on Netflix on Thursday. There are things that will only be known there, and then you will know that I am a total lunatic,” he said.
“I hadn’t yet signed with Roma, but I had given my word to Roma, and a club asked me to break the compromise with the Giallorossi. When these things come out on Netflix, everyone will tell me that I'm a total fool.”
Per IMDb, the Special One’s previous appearance on a Netflix documentary was on the third episode of season 1 of The Playbook, where he explained his rules as a coach.
