Rulani Mokwena has shed more light on the rumoured arrival of Argentine midfielder Matias Esquivel at Mamelodi Sundowns from South American side Club Atletico Lanus.
The South African tactician has been turning things around since being appointed as Sundowns' manager, and the choice of players he brings into his team setup has been top-notch.
Reports have suggested that the Masandawana are close to bringing the Esquivel to the Premier Soccer League as they look to boost their squad during the January transfer window.
In a recent interview, Sundowns manager Mokwena denied knowing anything concerning the reported move of the Argentine playmaker to his team after being asked by reporters, according to GOAL.
"Argentinian player? You seem to know more than me. I know absolutely nothing as I sit here," he said.
Argentine media reported in late December 2023 that the 24-year-old midfielder had agreed to a four-year deal with the PSL side, but it seems Mokwena is not aware of the process, according to a report by SABC Sport.
