FootballMohamed Salah Trolled Mercilessly Online After Failing To Convert Penalty Against Newcastle United
- Mohamed Salah had a moment to forget for Liverpool in the game against Newcastle United
- Salah failed to convert a spot kick which would have given Liverpool the lead in the game
- Fans took to social media to roast Salah for his penalty failure and his receding hairline
Mohamed Salah is trending online for all the wrong reasons.
The Liverpool attacker had a chance to put his side in front against Newcastle United, but saw his penalty saved by Martin Dubravka.
Had he converted, Salah would have reached 150 goals in the English Premier League for The Reds, and scored the first goal of 2024.
More concerning for Liverpool fans is the fact that Salah has now failed to score from the spot again, raising questions about whether he needs to be replaced.
While the Liverpool fans may have cause for concern, it was rival fans who used the moment to mock the Egyptian.
Social media went wild as football lovers mocked Salah’s failure and his hairline as well. Some even suggested that there was a Christmas curse on the Egyptian.
Ironically, Salah had a second penalty late on in the game which he scored
Here is how social media reacted to his first penalty:
“Did you know that Mo Salah is the first player to miss a penalty in 2024? 🫣🤣🤣😂😂😂”
“Someone please give my boy Salah a haircut #liverpool”
“Not surprised Salah missed the penalty, what do you expect when 1.4 billion people are cursing you for celebrating Christmas?”
“No player has missed more penalties than Salah in 2024.”
"Szoboszlai has taken 17 career penalties and scored 16 of them. Mac Allister has taken 11 career penalties and scored 10 of them. He won't like it but when you have players with those records on the pitch, there is no reason for Salah to still be taking them. 6/10 is atrocious."

FootballKlopp on Salah's absence
Sports Brief also reported on Jurgen Klopp’s take on his team in the absence of Mohamed Salah.
In his latest press conference, Klopp refused to give too much away when asked about Salah’s potential replacement when the Egyptian plays in the AFCON.
“We would have solutions today; I hope we have that after the Newcastle game as well,” Klopp said.
