Bandari FC midfield maestro William Wadri will leave the club

Wadri disclosed that contract renewal talks with Bandari broke down

He expressed his readiness to explore opportunities with other local clubs

Bandari FC will bid farewell to their midfield dynamo, William Wadri, marking the end of a remarkable six-year journey with the Mombasa-based FKF Premier League club.

The departure of the dynamic attacking midfielder was confirmed as his contract ended on Sunday, December 31, 2023.

Wadri, who played a crucial role under various coaches since his arrival in February 2018, disclosed his exit.

In the interview, Wadri revealed that he is now a free agent after his contract expired on December 31, 2023.

"I would have wished to continue at the club, but the renewal talks did not yield any fruits as we could not agree on some key components, and I now leave. I am now open to offers from clubs interested in my services. I still have a lot to offer in the game and am open to joining a side that we will agree on terms with,” Wadri is quoted on Mozzart Sport.

Despite expressing a desire to continue with Bandari, renewal talks with the club faltered, leading to his departure.

Wadri, undeterred, expressed his readiness to explore opportunities with other local clubs interested in his services.

Wadri thanked the club for the opportunities and expressed gratitude for his time.

His departure is part of the significant changes anticipated for Bandari FC, with winger Joe Waithira also expected to leave following the expiration of his contract.

As Wadri leaves, other teams in the league look to revitalize their seasons, with Sofapaka the latest to replace their head coach. Batoto ba Mungu officially announced the appointment of Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno as their new head coach on New Year’s Day, marking his return to the top flight since leaving KCB before the season kick-off.

"We are pleased to inform our fans that, in a bid to boost the squad and the technical bench, we have appointed Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno as the head coach of our team, assisted by coach Ezekiel Akwana," said the club on its Twitter handle.

The decision to bring in Zico is seen as a strategic move by Batoto ba Mungu to stabilise their performance after a challenging start to the current campaign.
