Al-Nassr winger Sadio Mane made good use of his short vacation before the commencement of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as he performed Umrah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The former Bayern Munich forward leads the 27-man squad to represent Senegal at the 34th edition of the biggest football competition in Africa.
The 31-year-old winger was also part of the team that won the competition the last time out and will be defending the title in Ivory Coast.
In a picture shared on social media, sighted by Sports Brief, Mane was seen performing Umrah with other Muslim faithful. He was also spotted with his Al-Nassr teammate Seko Fofana, who is also getting ready to represent Ivory Coast at the AFCON.
What is Umrah?
Umrah bears a resemblance to Hajj but offers the advantage of being performed at any time. To optimize their spiritual journeys, faithful believers frequently opt for Umrah during the revered month of Ramadan, according to Accor.
In contrast to Hajj, Umrah rituals are shorter and simpler.
Mane scores brace against Al-Ittihad
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Former Bayern Munich winger Sadio Mane scored in Al-Nassr's win over Al-Ittihad at the Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium in the Saudi Pro League.
The Senegalese winger had an excellent performance for Al-Nassr against Karim Benzema-led Al-Ettihad, with the Knight of Najd claiming all three points.
Al-Nassr needed a win against Al-Ettihad to put more pressure on league leaders Al-Hilal.
Al Nassr fans Chant Mane’s name
Sports Brief also reported on Al-Nassr fans chanting Mane's name, and they paraded an incredible tifo of him in their crucial win over Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.
The former Liverpool forward was not on the scoresheet for the Knights of Najd but had a good performance against Steven Gerrard's men.
