The 2023 Africa Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen was spotted in Lagos, where he attended a New Year Crossover Service.

Billions all over the world have welcomed the Year 2024 in grand style as they troop to worship centres to pray for new beginnings.

Viral footage showed that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen attended the Redeemed Christian Church of God Parish in Lagos.

Members were excited to see the Super Eagles striker worship with them as they looked star-struck, clapping in enthusiasm.

To the delight of those present, Osimhen shared a warm embrace with the pastor before he was handed the microphone.

This comes a week after the 25-year-old was shown a red card in Napoli's 2-0 loss to Roma in the Italian Serie A.

Lorenzo Pellegrini and Romelu Lukaku scored to secure three points against the Italian champions.

Osimhen was the second Napoli player to be sent off, with Matteo Politano also seeing red in the second half, Daily Post reports.

Consequently, he has been released by his club as Nigeria begin their final preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on January 13.

Nigeria are drawn in Group A, alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

Osimhen was named in Nigeria's final 25-man squad for the continental showpiece and will lead the attack alongside Victor Boniface.

Osimhen tipped to leave Napoli next summer

Sports Brief earlier reported that Football agent Dario Canovi is convinced Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli next summer despite signing a contract extension with the reigning Serie A champions.

The 24-year-old forward became one of the Partenopei’s top earners in history after he penned a one-year contract extension last week, but uncertainties still surround his future at the club.

Canovi is of the opinion that Osimhen’s contract extension was to increase the value of the Nigerian forward, as he expects Napoli to cash in on him when the right offer comes.
