FootballCole Palmer Joins Elite List After Performance for Chelsea Against Luton Town
- Cole Palmer scored twice for Chelsea against Luton Town
- Palmer also assisted winger Noni Madueke for the second goal
- His contribution in the first half put him in an elite group
Cole Palmer is wasting no time to make his impact felt at Chelsea after his £40 million move from his boyhood club, Manchester City, last summer.
Palmer grew through the ranks of Manchester City academy but wanted more regular minutes and opted to move to London, where he joined Chelsea on the deadline day.
He immediately settled in at Chelsea and proved why he wanted out of his former club in search of regular minutes, growing from a boy to a man and becoming his new team’s focal point.
It came as no surprise as he scored some crucial goals for Pep Guardiola’s team, including the equaliser in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla, which City won on penalties.
Cole Palmer joins elite list
His outputs in the game made it eight goals and four assists this season and made it 12 goals contributions in the league. Per TNT Sports, he became the fifth player to have double digits for the Blues while being U21.
The other four to have achieved this are Mason Mount (12), Christian Pulisic (13), Eden Hazard (10) and Arjen Robben (16). He will surpass Robben's tally if he keeps up his current momentum.
Per Opta, it’s the fourth game this season he would score and assist, more than any other player in the Premier League this season, showing how much of a good season he is having.
He was deservedly named broadcasters’ man of the match for his performance.
