Chelsea's Hudson-Odoi meets sports minister; vows to support sports infrastructure

UEFA Champions League winner and Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi, has paid a visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and promised to support sports in the country.

The Chelsea player has been in Ghana for a week now and has already met the President of the country, Nana Akufo-Addo Dankwa Akufufo-Addo who wants him to switch nationality and play for the Black Stars.

Hudson-Odoi was accompanied by GFA President Kurt Okraku and his vice Mark Addo during his visit to the Ministry.

According to the ministry, the 20-year-old said he will provide support in the development of sports in Ghana.

Meanwhile, the Minister and the FA have been asked by Nana Akufo-Addo to start the process of convincing the English-born attacker to switch his nationality.

Hudson-Odoi is in Ghana for holidays after a successful campaign with Chelsea last season.

Meanwhile, the English-born Ghanaian winger has not ruled out the option of playing for Ghana in the future.

The 20-year-old Chelsea star was left out of England manager Gareth Southgate's squad for the upcoming EURO 2020 championship making his international future unclear.

However, Hudson-Odoi who is in Ghana for holidays revealed why he chose England over Ghana in the past explaining they came to him first.

“I think obviously when you’re young, you have the opportunity to play for England throughout all the years, from under 15 to under 16 all the way up. When they obviously gave me the opportunity to come I was in the country already. It’s something that I already had in my mind, set on already playing for England," the winger said in a meet and greet session in Accra on Sunday.
