- Director Thomas Bernsten has hinted at a possible departure
- There is reported interest in Otieno from clubs in Spain and France
In a recent revelation, AIK's director of football, Thomas Bernsten, shed light on the potential circumstances that could lead to the departure of Harambee Stars' defender Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma Otieno.
Despite significant interest from various clubs in Europe's top five leagues, AIK had reportedly turned down multiple offers for the fullback during the summer.
The Swedish club remains cautious about its decisions, with Bernsten stressing that it is not indiscriminately spending money.
He acknowledged the attractiveness of AIK but highlighted that the club's aim is not just to lure players with the pleasantness of Stockholm.
"We'll see what we do, but I won't go into specific names. We know that some will leave and some will be sold. Then we will bring about six players to strengthen our core squad of 14-15 men. That is the goal," Bernsten is quoted on Fotboll Transfers.

Expressen, a Swedish outlet, has also reported significant interest in Ouma from clubs in Spain and France.
According to the outlet, these clubs are expected to present concrete offers, and AIK must be willing to negotiate at the right price.
Ouma, who joined AIK from Vasalunds IF in 2020, showcased his skills with one goal and three assists in 26 Allsvenskan appearances this season.
The 27-year-old Harambee Stars defender has been previously linked to English clubs like Leicester City, Manchester City, and Crystal Palace.
AIK concluded the Allsvenskan season in 11th place, and as the winter transfer market looms, the football community awaits further developments on the potential departure of the Kenyan player.
