Football agent Dario Canovi is convinced Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli next summer despite signing a contract extension with the reigning Serie A champions.
The 24-year-old forward became one of the Partenopei’s top earners in history after he penned a one-year contract extension last week, but uncertainties still surround his future at the club.
According to Soccernet, Canovi is of the opinion that Osimhen’s contract extension was just to increase the value of the Nigerian forward, as he expects Napoli to cash in on him when the right offer comes.
“It is a renewal that simply serves to increase the price. In my opinion, he will go away in June.”
Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all been rumoured to be interested in signing Osimhen, whose current transfer clause has risen to €130 million after he penned a new contract with Napoli until 2026.
Osimhen is Nigeria’s top earner
Meanwhile, following his new bumper contract with Napoli, Victor Osimhen will end 2023 as the highest-paid Super Eagles player ahead of Fulham’s Alex Iwobi, Pulse Sports reports.
The 24-year-old forward, who led Napoli to the Scudetto last season, also became the highest-paid African footballer ever to grace the revered Serie A pitches ahead of legends like Samuel Eto’o and George Weah.
Osimhen's new contract at Napoli is also the second-largest ever signed by a Nigerian footballer, with a salary of more than $40 million expected by the end of the term in 2026.
Osimhen backed to dominate EPL
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Victor Osimhen’s Super Eagles teammate and Fulham defender Calvin Bassey says that the Napoli striker would thrive in the Premier League.
