The Super Eagles are ranked above the likes of Morocco, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Ghana ahead of the competition.

Transfermarkt released the last financial rankings of the national team for the year 2023 and showed a considerable rise in value for the Super Eagles, according to a report by The PUNCH.

Nigeria now boasts a total squad value of €465.90 million and moves up in global ranking to 12th place.

The Super Eagles are still behind the top footballing nations like England (€1.15bn), Brazil (€1.09bn), France (€1.05bn), Portugal (€922m) and Spain (€837m).

Nigeria were ranked 13th in October, but the inclusion of former Southampton and Burnley forward Nathan Tella in the squad has increased the team's value massively.

Likewise, the market value of Napoli star Victor Osimhen (€120m) and Bayer Leverkusen's striker Victor Boniface (€40m) have helped the squad in the latest financial rankings.

Nigeria to face Cape Verde ahead of AFCON

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast is less than a month away and qualified countries are preparing feverishly ahead of the competition which begins on January 13.

Most of the teams have also lined up enticing pre-AFCON friendlies for early next month including the Black stars of Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt and Cameroon.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, who will be camping in Saudi Arabia, will face Burkina Faso and Cape Verde.
