Liverpool are set to miss the services of Mohamed Salah, who is set to take part in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Salah's Egypt are among the teams participating in the 34th edition of the continental showpiece slated for between Saturday, January 13, and Sunday, February 11.

The forward's absence will be a major blow to the Reds, owing to his contribution to the team in their 2023/24 campaign.

According to Statista, the Egyptian star has already scored 12 Premier League goals so far this season, with his incredible goal-scoring form putting Liverpool in a pole position to challenge for the title.

How Liverpool will cope without Salah

However, Cody Gakpo is confident Liverpool have what it takes to cope without the former AS Roma star.

According to the Dutchman, the Reds have a pool of attackers they can rely on to provide cover for Salah.

"For every attacking player who didn't score for a few games, it's always nice to get back on the scoresheet and Darwin did it with a very good goal.
"For Diogo as well. When you are injured and you come back and score that's always nice and good for the confidence. So really happy. Mo is gone after the Newcastle game so we need the goals. Of course, I think I can contribute even more," Gakpo said via 90Min.

Gakpo made the revelation after Liverpool silenced Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day to go top of the EPL standings.

Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota secured the victory for the Merseysiders.

Salah sends message to war victims

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Mohamed Salah had ‘let fans down’ by sharing a different Christmas post instead of his usual family photos, which received strong criticisms from Muslims.

The Egyptian is one of the leading Muslim figures in sport but has shown he is a tolerant and accommodating person by relating freely with people regardless of religion and race.
