  • Villarreal are interested in signing Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze
  • The La Liga club wants to re-sign their former winger on loan from AC Milan
  • Chukwueze has scored just two goals for AC Milan this season

Villareal is desperate to reunite with Samuel Chukwueze, but re-signing the Super Eagles forward is practically impossible for the La Liga giants due to UEFA’s restrictions.

Chukwueze joined AC Milan in the summer for €30 million, and the Nigerian forward was anticipated to take Serie A by storm after an excellent season for the Spanish club in which he scored 13 goals and assisted 11 times in 52 appearances.

Unfortunately, the deal has failed to meet expectations as the Super Eagles forward has managed just two goals in 17 appearances for AC Milan, prompting Villareal to enquire about re-signing him.

According to Daily Post, a loan return to former club Villarreal for Chukwueze has, however, been ruled out because of a UEFA rule that prohibits players from returning on loan to their former team before their contract expires.

The Yellow Submarine have also been struggling in the Spanish top flight and currently find themselves in 13th position on the log, and they will have to look elsewhere for a new forward with Chukwueze unreachable.

Milan wasted money on Chukwueze

Meanwhile, former AC Milan technical director and Italian legend Paolo Maldini has called Rossoneri's €30 million spent on Samuel Chukwueze a waste of money, Punch reports.

The Nigerian winger has failed to settle since moving to the Serie A club and has contributed just two goals this season since his summer arrival from Villareal.

Chukwueze joined Milan in a five-year deal that saw the 23-year-old Nigerian become the club’s most expensive signing in the summer.

Chukwueze scores wonder goal for Milan

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze scored a sensational goal for AC Milan in their UEFA Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund at the San Siro Stadium.

The winger's goal cancelled out an early opener from Marco Reus after Olivier Giroud missed a penalty won by the Nigerian international.

Reus had scored from the penalty spot at the 10-minute mark after Davide Calabria brought down Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the box.
