RugbyLuc Eymael and Brandon Truter at the Top of Richards Bay FC’s Head Coach Replacement List
- Luc Eymael is claimed as the frontrunner for the vacant Richards Bay FC head coach job
- Brandon Truter's name has been mentioned as a candidate or possible alternative
- The Natal Rich Boyz sacked Kaitano Tembo on Christmas Day and sit second from bottom
Richards Bay are wasting no time in getting back on track.
The club gave Kaitano Tembo the worst Christmas gift when they announced his departure on December 25 and already have their next boss in mind.
The Natal Rich Boyz currently sit 15th on the log, six points ahead of rock-bottom Cape Town Spurs, but seven points off Sekhukhune United.
The departing Tembo had only been in the job for less than six months after taking over from Vasili Manousakis at the end of last season.
The now-Cape Town Spurs assistant had led Richards Bay to a 13th-place finish in the previous campaign but that was not good enough for owner Sifiso Biyela.
Richards Bay now sit 15th and two names have emerged as frontrunners for the vacant hot seat, Belgian Luc Eymael and former Sekhukhune United hardman Brandon Truter.
Several coaches have been contacted, according to claims published by KickOff, with Eymael receiving the closest attention.
When Manousakis was sacked earlier this year, Eymael was at that stage already linked with the job, as per 947.
Eymael has had three stints in South Africa but did not last more than 18 months at either Polokwane City, Free State Stars or Black Leopards. He did, however, win the Nedbank Cup with Stars in 2018.
Truter could be a viable alternative that suits the club's short-term needs. 'Brakkies' has in the past saved Amazulu and most recently Sekhukhune United from relegation.
