Manchester United set 2 unwanted records for Premier League after UCL elimination
FootballManchester United: Ratcliffe’s INEOS Begin Football Operations Ahead of Premier League Approval
- Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reached an agreement to buy a 25% stake in Manchester United
- The British billionaire’s takeover is subject to FA and Premier League approval
- He will handle football operations from the Glazers’s family and is already calling shots
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS has begun calling the shots at Manchester United despite his takeover still to receive the green light from the FA and Premier League.
On December 24, the Glazers brought to an end a year-long process by announcing they had reached an agreement with INEOS to buy a 25% stake in the club.
The American owners were open to a full sale or partial investment at the beginning of the process but eventually opted for a minority stake after almost a year.
Per Sky Sports, Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim offered to buy the full 100% stake at over £5 billion but withdrew after the Glazers claimed his offer did not match their valuation.
INEOS begin football operations
Per Manchester United Evening News, pending the official approval, all players’ transfers and personnel futures, including John Murtough and Erik ten Hag, must receive the green light from INEOS.
There are many likely departures after CEO Richard Arnold departed last month, which was the first of many changes expected in the football structure of the club.
Ten Hag’s future hangs in the balance. Even though he is not expected to be sacked till the end of the season, he bought himself more time with the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa last night.
