- The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach is not the only leading candidate for the Egyptian club's job
Former Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane has been named the leading candidate to take charge of Egyptian side Pyramids FC amid links with Kaizer Chiefs.
The South African tactician has had no coaching job since parting with the United Arab Emirates Pro League side Al Wahda in mid-November.
The former Al-Ahly boss has been linked with a return to the Premier Soccer League, with AmaKhosi being his possible destination.
The Glamour Boys have been without a permanent manager since the departure of Molefi Ntseki, with Mosimane's former assistant Cavin Johnson leading the team on an interim basis.
Mosimane has been seen as a potential replacement for struggling Pyramids boss Jaime Pacheco, according to a report by Al Watan Sport as per Soccer Laduma.
The 59-year-old manager is not the only coach linked with the Egyptian side, as former Real Madrid and South Africa national team coach Carlos Queiroz is also a top target for the job.
Pyramids FC are currently struggling under Pacheco as they were recently knocked out of the Egyptian Super Cup and were defeated at home in the CAF Champions League against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The club is currently on top of the Egyptian Premier League table, but the defending champions, Al Ahly, is three points behind with two outstanding games.
Mosimane's challenge in accepting Chiefs job
Sports Brief previously reported that Mosimane explained the challenge he faces in taking up the vacant coaching job at PSL giants, Kaizer Chiefs. Mosimane is currently unemployed but has been linked with several clubs.
