Jurgen Klopp's charges settled for a 1-1 draw with the Gunners in a top of the table clash, with the result denying them a chance to go top.

However, the Merseysiders made a good account of themselves when they faced Burnley on Tuesday night, December 26, at Turf Moor.

Sky Sports reports that a goal each from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota earned the visitors a vital win away from home.

How Liverpool beat Bunrnley

Liverpool needed just six minutes top open the scoring via Nunez, who was teed up by Cody Gakpo.

Evening Standard reports that the Uruguyuan side-footed home into the bottom corner first time from just outside the box to make it 1-0.

Liverpool absolutely bossed the first half but could not find any further breakthrough after Nunez's opener, with Mohamed Salah getting a half a chance when he struck the crossbar.

Burnley were much better after the break, but nearly went 2-0 down when Harvey Elliott side-footed into the bottom corner.

Jota went on to double Liverpool's lead at the death to send the Reds to the summit of the standings, albeit momentarily.

Arsenal now need to beat rivals West Ham United on Thursday night to go back on top.
