Wilfred Ndidi could be on the move in the January transfer window as the Super Eagles midfielder has been identified as a transfer target for La Liga giants Barcelona.
The Nigerian midfielder is arguably having the best season of his career at Leicester City under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, who has converted him from a holding midfielder into a box-to-box midfielder.
According to All Nigeria Soccer, Ndidi is among ten midfielders currently being monitored by Barcelona, who plan on signing a top player on a free transfer due to their financial issues.
Other midfielders also being tracked by the Catalans include Tomas Soucek (West Ham), Pablo Fornals (West Ham), Jorginho (Arsenal), Thiago (Liverpool), Marten de Roon (Atalanta), Daichi Kamada (Lazio), Piotr Zielinski (Napoli), Adrien Rabiot (Juventus) and Guido Rodríguez (Real Betis).
Ndidi’s current deal with Leicester City is set to expire at the end of the season but the Nigerian could join Barcelona as early as January.
Galatasaray eyeing Wilfred Ndidi
Meanwhile, Turkish giants Galatasaray has entered the race of top European clubs bidding to sign Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in the January transfer window, Soccernet reports.
Ndidi is the first choice on Galatasaray’s list of midfielders to replace Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tansguy Ndombele, who has underperformed for the Super Lig club this season.
Ndidi is free to enter into a pre-contract with any club in January, as his Leicester City contract is set to expire next summer, and negotiations for the new deal are yet to kick off.
