FootballVictor Osimhen: Premier League Defender Backs Napoli Striker to Dominate Premier League
- Victor Osimhen is arguably the best young striker in the world
- The Napoli superstar is loving life in Italy and has been linked with top European clubs
- Fulham defender has said the striker has everything he needs to thrive in the Premier League
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is one of the best strikers in world football, and his 2023 CAF Africa Player of the Year confirms this claim.
His Super Eagles teammate Calvin Bassey says that the striker would thrive in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old recently signed a new long-term deal with the reigning Italian champions and is still linked with some of the best clubs in Europe, like Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Many expect him to leave the club soon, considering Napoli's title defence is faltering, and he hasn't replicated last season's form.
Fulham defender and Nigeria international Calvin Bassey says his compatriot has everything to thrive in the Premier League.
“He (Osimhen) is a joke — the only striker I know who can run a back line by himself,” Bassey told The Athletic.
“He can run in behind, he can head, finish, he can do everything. The Premier League would suit him. Hopefully, he comes at some point but I would rather have him in my team than against him!”
Osimhen scored 26 Serie A goals last season, which saw him scoop the Golden Boot, becoming the first African to win the award.
Chelsea have been linked with the Nigerian, but it is unclear if his new deal will affect a possible move to England, per Football London.
Osimhen backed to lead Super Eagles
Former Nigeria international Etim Esin has said Osimhen and Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface are capable of leading the Super Eagles to Afcon glory next year as Sports Brief earlier reported.

FootballOsimhen and Boniface are two of Nigeria's best centre forwards and have scored a combined 24 goals this season.
If Nigeria are to win their first AFCON since 2013, the two forwards will need to be at their best.
Osimhen gets second Napoli red
Sports Brief previously reported that Victor Osimhen received his second red card of his Napoli career as the reigning Serie A champions had a massive setback to their title defence after suffering a 2-0 loss to AS Roma.
The 24-year-old, who only just extended his contract with the Partenopeans, received two quickfire yellow cards as he bagged the second red card of his Napoli career.
Osimhen was shown a yellow card for a poor foul in the second half. Then, ten minutes later, he committed another cheap foul to get his second yellow and his marching orders.
