  • Kevin De Bruyne showed his imitation skills during the 2018 Christmas holidays
  • The Machester City midfielder replayed part of the famous Home Alone movie
  • The movie tells the story of a child forgotten at home during the festive period

Kevin De Bruyne is widely known for his ability to pick out passes that no one could imagine was possible. The midfielder has risen to be among the best in history despite a minor hiccup at Chelsea, where his career threatened to stall.

He has since gone on to win every available trophy under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City while recording a podium finish in the Ballon d'Or.

In 2018, the straight-talking Belgian took a step back from his rigid routine and decided to play a little. He was seemingly reading from the script of all work and no play makes Kevin a dull boy.

He re-enacted episodes from the famous Christmas movie Home Alone, where he did bits from the main character Macaulay Caulkin, who played Kevin McCallister.

Home Alone

The Home Alone movie is a classic Christmas film where a child is accidentally forgotten by his family when they go on vacation in Paris, France. He is then forced to ward off thieves, two grown men, who pry on the homes left unattended to by families away at that time of the year. The comedy involves the kid outwitting the thieves with a series of tricks from basic home appliances.

Caulkin starred in parts 1 and 2. The former was staged in Chicago, while the latter was filmed in New York, where Kevin gets lost in the airport and ends up taking the wrong flight to New York. He renews his rivalries with the same robbers from part 1.

In his reenactment, De Bruyne is seen jumping up and down the bed, screaming when thieves confront him and when he is frightened by Old Man Marley and rushes back to the house.

Fast-forward, De Bruyne has hardly played this season but will be hoping to be back in full shape in 2024. He has since recovered from a hamstring issue and resumed team training.

De Bruyne's return bad for rivals

Guardiola's major Achilles Heel this season, without his Belgian maestro, has been how to beat the proverbial Big Six teams. He only beat Manchester United but lost to Arsenal before collecting successive draws against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Sports Brief reported on why De Bruyne's imminent return could be a problem for teams looking to beat Manchester City to the title.
