FootballNottingham Forest Call for Referee Suspension After Controversial Willy Boly Red Card vs Bournemouth
- Nottingham Forest are set to ask the referees' body not to assign Robert Jones to any of its games
- Forest were left aggrieved after Jones sent off Willy Boly in their game against Bournemouth

Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing to submit a formal request to the body of referees in England, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited(PGMOL), to complain against referee Robert Jones.
Jones was the centre referee in Forest's recent clash against Bournemouth at City Ground on December 23, where they lost 3-2.
The official sent off Willy Boly after just 23 minutes for what he adjudged to be two bookable offences. The second offence was highly controversial, given that Boly won the ball cleanly.
The Video Assistant Referee was not obliged to step in because it was a red card stemming from two yellow cards.
The Midlands-based club has now written to Howard Webb, the CEO of PGMOL, to ask for the suspension of Jones from officiating the club's matches. Apart from the yellow card, the Telegraph reports, they will also question Jones' decision not to award them a penalty after Adam Smith's handling offence in the area.
Recently appointed Forest head Coach Nuno Espirito was deflated after the game.
"It’s a frustration of knowing the approach of the referees is a bad one, and the law says because it’s two yellows you can’t reverse the decision. That’s something they have to look at because it doesn’t make sense," he said, as quoted by the Athletic.
Forest's had similar complaints against the same referee after Joe Worral was sent off in the 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier in the season. At that time, Jones was the VAR but failed to correct Stuart Atwell's decision to send off their skipper for a last-man challenge despite Boly providing cover.

FootballAll VAR apologies since last season
When the Video Assistant Referee was introduced to the Premier League in 2019, many thought the era of players getting away with wrong decisions or referees making incorrect decisions was behind us.
However, seasons later, the complaints have been loud, with PGMOL being forced to issue apologies to teams.
