Eliud Kipchoge has sent a heartfelt message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe after his Manchester United takeover was officially announced on Christmas Eve.
The INEOS owner has been in discussions with the Glazers' family representatives about acquiring a minority stake in the Old Trafford-based club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe completes Manchester United takeover
The club released an official statement confirming the process, subject to approval from the Premier League.
"Manchester United plc (NYSE: MANU) announced today that it has entered into an agreement under which Chairman of INEOS, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, will acquire 25 per cent of Manchester United’s Class B shares and up to 25 per cent of Manchester United’s Class A shares and provide an additional $300 million intended to enable future investment into Old Trafford."
The 71-year-old Briton has also been handed a football operations role where he is expected to spearhead the club's return to glory. The club has been in patchy form since Sir Alex Ferguson left ten years ago.

Kipchoge's message to Sir Jim Ratcliffe
Kipchoge took to his Instagram stories and sent a message to Ratcliffe.
"Congratulations to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the entire INEOS Sports family. All the best with your next great project in sports."
Kipchoge and Ratcliffe share a history, as the latter financed his 1:59 challenge on October 12, 2019. KIpchoge became the first human being to run a marathon race in under 2 hours, albeit under special conditions, in the streets of Vienna.
Ratcliffe was at the finish line to congratulate the former world record holder after he clocked 1:59:40. The 39-year-old will be angling for a third successive Olympic gold medal at the Paris games next year.

Kiptum shatters Kipchoge's record
Sports Brief also reported on Kelvin Kiptum obliterating Kipchoge's men's marathon world record at the 2023 Chicago Marathon.
He clocked 2:00:35 to take 34 seconds off the record and became the first person to run a marathon under 2 hours one minute.
Kipchioge and Kiptum may go head-to-head in Paris next year for the big title after both were called up for their country.
