Super Eagles midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has disclosed the reason why he left English Premier League giants Arsenal for Spanish side Huesca in 2019.
The Nigerian international joined the Gunners in 2016 after his fine performances at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, in which he won the Golden Ball Award.
The Chaves midfielder was sent on loan for most of the time he spent with the Gunners but decided to leave the club for Spain in the summer of 2019.
In a recent interview with Nigerian Info as per Soccernet, Nwakali discussed his time with Arsenal and why he decided to leave the club after three seasons.
"I decided to leave Arsenal after three years because the process of getting my work permit was difficult, so I had to make a move to Spain, where I signed for Huesca.," he said.
"I also needed a place where I could call home and establish myself."
The former Porto B star, while asked about his time with Huesca, claimed he doesn't want to remember it.
"For Huesca, I don't even want to remember my time there. It is a new beginning. I have had my ups and downs, but this is the time to make it right again; this is the time to get it back on track and stay there," he added.
Nwakali currently plays for Portuguese side Chaves and is considered one of the players to represent Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
