  • Manchester United were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by West Ham on Saturday
  • Second-half goals from Jarrod Bowen and Mohamed Kudus ensured victory for the Hammers
  • United’s defeat was their 14th loss across all competitions this season

Manchester United set an unwanted record after yet another defeat, this time at the hands of West Ham United.

The game was deadlocked at 0-0 for more than 70 minutes, but West Ham were able to grab the win thanks to a brilliant six-minute display in the second half.

In-form Lucas Paqueta orchestrated his team’s opener, as he brilliantly picked out Bowen’s run with a delightful chip behind the Manchester United defence and the England international beat Andre Onana with a slice of luck from a rebound.

Ghana international Mohamed Kudus then made sure of the result with a menacing low shot in the bottom corner, moments after a rare mistake from United youngster Kobbie Mainoo, as reported by BBC.

The visitors were fairly tame in front f goal and their best chance of the game fell to Alejandro Garnacho in the first half, but the Argentine fluffed his shot straight at Alphonse Areola.

Manchester United’s unwanted records rage on

West Ham were able to leapfrog their opponents of the day with the win, as David Moyes’ side temporarily moved to sixth place on the log.

For United, the defeat only served as a painful reminder of what has been a horrible season so far.

According to @OneFootball on X, formerly Twitter, United have now lost 14 games across all competitions this season.

The last time the Red Devils lost more than 13 games before the Christmas period wascore 93 years ago, in 1930.

The stats get worse for United as they have also failed to score in four successive matches for the first time since 1992.

What next for United?

Defeat to West Ham leaves United in eighth place. The Red Devils are also out of the Champions League, and their best shot at silverware this season is through the FA Cup.

It does not get any easier for Ten Hag and his wads as they face surprise title contenders Aston Villa in their Boxing Day Premier League fixture.

Kudus explains meaning behind celebration

Sports Brief also reported on Mohammed Kudus’ meaning behind his nonchalant goal celebration.

Kudus went and sat on the advertising board immediately he scored against Manchester United.

The 23-year-old has been in devastating form for West Ham since joining the club in the summer transfer window from Ajax Amsterdam.

Kudus has netted nine goals across all competitions for the London outfit, and his celebration after each strike is becoming popular in England. The Ghana international runs and sits on the advertising board to celebrate a goal.
