- Julian Alvarez scored the fastest goal in FIFA Club World Cup history against Fluminese
- Manchester City beat Fluminense 4-0 to win the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia
- Man City made history by becoming the first English side to hold 5 cups simultaneously
Julian Alvarez has entered the record books once more.
The Manchester City attacker got onto the scoresheet for the English Premier League side in the FIFA Club World Cup final, making history in the process.
Alvarez scored the opening goal of the game in the first minutes, as City got off to the perfect start. His goal was officially judged to be scored on the 40-second mark.
Alvarez makes history
The goal is officially the fastest goal in FIFA Club history, easily surpassing the previous record.
The Athletic noted that the previous fastest goal was scored by Bayern Munich's Dante in 2013. Dante took seven minutes to net for the German side on that occasion.
Alvarez's 40-second goal is likely to stand for a very long time.
Man City achieve historic feat with victory
It wasn't only Alvarez making history in Saudi Arabia during the final, as his team did as well.
Manchester City's website confirmed that Pep Guardiola's side became the first English club in history to simultaneously hold the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
The English side will now turn their attention back to the Premier League when they take on Everton on Wednesday, December 27, and then Sheffield United on December 30.

Sports Brief also reported that Pep Guardiola could make history as the manager with the most wins in the competition if his team overcomes the Copa Libertadores champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Spaniard has won the competition three times - twice with Barcelona and the third after taking over Bayern, who won the 2013 UCL. He would win his fourth if he guided Man City to victory on Friday.
