  • Jose Mourinho's future with AS Roma continues to remain uncertain
  • Names are already being linked to replace the Special One in Rome
  • One of those coaches is his former player, Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso

Jose Mourinho could leave AS Roma by the end of the season and with many already being linked to replacing him, one has come out to deny the rumours.

Mourinho was appointed by Roma in 2021 on a three-year contract and, in his first season, won the club’s first trophy since the 2008 Coppa Italia - the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.

In his second season, the Special One guided the team to another European final - the UEFA Europa League where they lost to Sevilla under controversial conditions.

Per Goal, the aftermath of the loss earned the manager a four-game ban after he confronted English official, Anthony Taylor in the parking lot and uttered expletives at him.

The former Chelsea boss’ contract winds up by the end of the season and no renewal is yet to happen, leading many to speculate he could leave the club with Saudi Arabia interested.

Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, the Special One said his departure does not depend on him, but it would be the club’s decision if he leaves or stays.

Names are circulating in the media over who could replace the manager if he leaves, including his former player, Xabi Alonso and former Inter Milan boss, Antonio Conte.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport via Roma Press, the Leverkusen boss has affirmed his commitment to the club and denied links to the Italian capital as he has no plan of leaving Germany anytime soon.

The former Spanish midfielder is doing an impressive job with the Bundesliga side and has guided them to the top of the league table going into the new year.
