According to BBC, City hammered Japan's Urawa Reds 3-0 on Tuesday in the semis to book a place in the final.

A Marius Hoibraten own goal and second-half goals from Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva earned the EPL giants a deserved win.

The victory saw them set up a crunch date with Brazilian giants Fluminense, who reached the final after seeing off Al-Ahly in the other semi-final.

Triumph for Man City in the final scheduled Friday, December 22, will see them join Liverpool, Chelsea, and Man United in the list of English clubs that have won the competition.

The Red Devils became the first EPL club to win the competition back in 2008 before Liverpool won it in 2019.

The Blues secured their own in 2021 under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel.

Which other clubs have won the tournament?

Having been contested for the first time in 2000, only 11 different clubs have won the tournament.

GiveMeSports reports that Real Madrid have won the title the most times, with the La Liga club claiming it a record five times. Their last triumph came in 2022.

Outside Europe, Brazilian clubs have been the most successful, with Corinthians and Sao Paulo FC winning the tourney.

Meanwhile, the format of the competition is set to change in 2025 to have 32 teams compete.

Chelsea and City have earned automatic qualification, with Manchester United and Liverpool set to miss out.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported a total of $16 million will be shared amongst all seven participants in the FIFA Club World Cup, depending on their finishes.

At the moment, Man City is guaranteed at least $4mil, which is the amount the runners-up will win. However, Pep Guardiola's side can increase it to $5mil if they win the whole thing.

Urawa and Egyptian side, Al Ahly will battle it out in the Club World Cup's third-place playoff.
