Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton has released his 55-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year.

Hughton included England-born West Bromwich Albion forward, Brandon Thomas-Asante as well as 11 home-based players in his team.

The team, which will be pruned to 26 men, also sees youngster Forson Amankwah earning his place in Ghana's squad for the first time.

Injured midfielder Thomas Partey, winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey have also been named in the team, as reported by the Ghana FA's official website.

West Ham United star, Mohammed Kudus is also on the list together with brothers, Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars will begin preparations for the competition early next month as the four-time champions eye success in Ivory Coast.

Ghana last won the tournament in 1982 and have since suffered three AFCON heartbreaks, losing to Egypt and twice to Ivory Coast on penalties.

The West African nation have been drawn in Group B of the competition alongside seven-time champions Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

West Ham fan: Ghana must exit AFCON early

Sports Brief also previously reported that a young West Ham fan hopes Ghana suffers early AFCON elimination ahead of the tournament in Ivory Coast.

The Hammers are set to lose star midfielder, Kudus to the month-long tournament, which begins on January 13, 2024, and fans are concerned.

Sports Brief also previously reported that four-time African champions, Ghana have been drawn in Group B of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars will face seven-time African champions Egypt, and West African rivals Cape Verde and Mozambique as they chase a fifth title at the tournament.
