Former Al Wahda manager Pitso Mosimane has disclosed the biggest club in the South African league between Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
The 59-year-old tactician has been in the news since parting ways with the UAE Pro League side in mid-November and has been linked with several top clubs in Africa and other continents.
The South African coach had a successful spell during his time in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), and he is definitely in the position of picking the biggest team in the league.
Mosimane, in a recent interview with The Sunday World, claimed that Sundowns are the biggest team in the country for now, though he admitted that both Pirates and Chiefs were once the biggest at some point.
"[Kaizer] Chiefs were at some stage the biggest club. [Orlando] Pirates as well were a big team, but Sundowns have opened a big gap," he said.
The former SuperSports United manager went further to explain why he picked the Brazilians as the biggest team in South Africa ahead of the AmaKhosi and the Bucs.
"They are investing a lot of money into the club; they are buying the best players on the continent and also from South America. They have a system, they have scouts to go look for quality players," he added.
"I was there, I know it. I used to travel with Walter Steenbok to South America. In the PSL era, the biggest team is [Mamelodi] Sundowns, and they are winning the trophies."
