Mohammed Kudus is in awe of the qualities of Austin Jay Jay Okocha and has named the ex-Super Eagles captain as his all-time favourite legend of the game.
Okocha, often regarded as one of the most skilful footballers of his generation, had a stellar career playing for Nigeria between 1993 and 2006.
As part of the Super Eagles squad, they won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and gold at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
According to Soccernet, Kudus was asked in an interview to name a legend he would have loved to be teammates with and the West Ham United forward named Okocha, ignoring his countrymen like Abedi Pele, Steven Appiah, and Michael Essien.
"I like players who can entertain the fans with their skills. Okocha was one of those players. He had unbelievable dribbling ability, could pass through the tightest spaces and score amazing goals. He was a joy to watch."
Okocha is one of Africa’s greatest players and had stints with top European clubs, including Eintracht Frankfurt, Paris Saint-Germain, Fenerbahce, and Bolton Wanderers.
Shearer delighted with Ghana’s Kudus
Meanwhile, Premier League icon, Alan Shearer has hailed Kudus' impact at West Ham after the Ghanaian forward scored a brace for the Hammers over the weekend, Caught Offside reports.
The forward’s two goals in Sunday's 3-0 Premier League victory against Wolves took his tally to nine - and four in the month of December alone - since joining them from Ajax Amsterdam in August.
However, Kudus will set aside his club duties during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to kick off on January 14 next year, to help the Black Stars compete for a fifth continental title.
