The South African veteran is one of the top coaches without a job presently and has been linked with many notable teams.

Kaizer Chiefs are presently being managed by Cavin Johnson on an interim basis and are still in search of a permanent replacement for Molefi Ntseki.

The AmaKhosi are in a trophy drought at the moment, with their last title being the Premier Soccer League crown in the 2014/15 season.

Mosimane, in a recent interview with Sunday World Engage, spoke about the Glamour Boys failing to win a title for the past eight seasons.

"Kaizer Chiefs not winning a trophy for eight years, these things happen. I can put out the fires. I have always had to put out fires, all my career. I will have to do things that were not done [at the club] in the last six years."

The former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor likened the situation to when he led the Brazilians, as they were in the same situation as Kaizer Chiefs.

"When I arrived at Mamelodi Sundowns, they had not won a single trophy in six years, and they were number 14 on the PSL log table," he said.

Discussing his links to the PSL giants, Mosimane said the important part for him was understanding the club's short- and long-term plans.

"It is like in business, it works like that. Kaizer Chiefs always had star players, and they were beating everybody, that is why the brand is big."

The South African tactician's comments may not confirm anything but some would feel heartened knowing there exists a possibility that he could still return as AmaKhosi coach.

Sport Brief previously reported that Mosimane responded to reports linking him with the vacant coaching role at Premier League Soccer side, Kaizer Chiefs.

In a recent interview on Kaya FM, the 59-year-old tactician was asked if he was considering coaching the AmaKhosi and his response has generated intrigue.
