Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, Austin Jay Jay Okocha has chosen his favourite between veteran superstars, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in terms of football IQ.
The Portuguese and Argentine icons were the best footballers in the world for close to two decades, dominating individual awards and team accolades during those periods.
Both Ronaldo and Messi are included in the debate over the greatest football players of all time in the sport's history due to their contributions and performances over this time.
In an interview with GOAL, Okocha was asked to build his ultimate player using the attributes of multiple stars.
The former Bolton midfielder was asked questions about who had the superior left foot and right foot, as well as which players had impressed him with their respective speed and strength on the pitch.
Okocha was also tasked with choosing the footballer with the greatest IQ on the field, who would be the brain operating all other features of the ultimate player he assembled.
Okocha builds his perfect footballer
Asked about who had the best left foot, he went with an Arsenal legend.
"[Mesut] Ozil."
When asked about the best player using the right foot, Okocha went with the Portuguese veteran:
"[Cristiano] Ronaldo."
In terms of speed, the Nigerian legend went with a French prodigy:
"[Kylian] Mbappe."
Looking at the player who boasted the most strength on the ball, Okocha went with Mbappe's compatriot:
"[N'golo] Kante."
Then when finally asked who had the best football IQ to best utilise these attributes, the former Super Eagles captain answered:

Most notably, Okocha did not mention any Nigerian player - either past or present - when creating his ultimate footballer, which might leave some fans aggrieved.

Sports Brief previously reported on Okocha commenting on the GOAT debate as the argument continues to rage between fans of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The Argentine and the Portuguese superstars have reigned supreme for years, causing fans, pundits, and even players to remain divided on which of them is the superior.
While Okocha acknowledged the extraordinary accomplishments of both Messi and Ronaldo in football, the former Bolton playmaker has a definite favourite in his view.
