  • Gor Mahia beat FC Talanta to go four points clear in the FKF PL
  • Tusker FC's resurgence continued with a win over Nzoia Sugar
  • Relegation-threatened AFC Leopards registered a second win

Gor Mahia FC once again showcased their dominance in the FKF Premier League with a convincing 2-0 win over FC Talanta at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday, December 17.

The triumph solidified K’Ogalo's position at the top of the league standings with 31 points, four ahead of second-placed KCB.

Midfielder, Boniface Omondi scored Gor Mahia's opener in the 57th minute before Austin Odhiambo sealed the win with a well-timed effort eight minutes past the hour mark.

Head coach, Jonathan McKinstry expressed confidence in his team's ability to clinch the season's title, emphasising the need for consistent performances in the remaining matches.

"I believe our players have what it takes to win the title again this season. I must appreciate the boys for giving a good account of themselves against a well-drilled opponent," he said, per The Star.

In Bungoma County, Tusker FC continued their resurgence with a 2-0 win over 10-man Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi Stadium.

The game faced a temporary halt as fans threw projectiles onto the pitch after a red card for Nzoia's substitute goalkeeper, Daniel Omuse. Despite the disruption, Tusker secured their second successive victory.

AFC Leopards, after enduring a six-match winless streak, finally clinched a win by beating Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 at Nyayo National Stadium on December 18. The victory was a crucial step for Leopards, who are flirting with relegation.

After the game, Leopards' Secretary General, Gilbert Andugu assured the fans that the team was on the ‘right track’ and asked for less panic despite the poor results they had registered.

"What I want to ask of our fans is to support the team and also be patient. As you know, we had a transfer ban of players and also coaches have been changed from Aussems to Tom Juma... Because there was too much pressure from fans for results, we had to bring in Thomas Trucha," he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

In other fixtures, KCB narrowed the gap on Gor Mahia by securing a narrow 2-1 victory against Kenya Police, closing the point difference to just one.

Kariobangi Sharks and Bidco United also played to a goalless draw, while Bandari secured a 2-0 home win against Murang’a Seal.

FKF PL attracts interest from Asia

Sports Brief previously reported that Yuto Kusaba explained what inspired him to pursue his professional football career in Kenya.

The Japanese midfielder currently plays for Nairobi City Stars in the FKF Premier League after a successful stint with FC Zenshin.

Despite challenges that delayed his competitive debut, the midfielder is set to make his mark on the field by January next year.
