  • Victor Osimhen has continued to be linked with a move to Chelsea from Napoli
  • The Super Eagles star is tipped to be a star to emulate the iconic Didier Drogba
  • Osimhen is being seen as the person to unlock the potential of two Blues stars

Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen has continued to be linked with a move to Chelsea but the London-based side will face a difficult task in convincing Napoli to sell the Nigerian international.

The former Lille striker was recently crowned the 2023 CAF Player of the Year ahead of Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi and has been tipped as the 'heir apparent' to Ivorian legend, Didier Drogba.

The Blues are still in search of a striker who is clinical in front of the goal despite signing impressive Senegalese international, Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal in the summer.

According to a report by Football London, the Nigerian is seen as the ideal striker to unlock the potential of both Christopher Nkunku and Mykhailo Mudryk, giving the Blues' attacking line more chances.

In Napoli's win against Cagliari over the weekend, Osimhen proved he is not just about scoring goals and could offer much more to any team.

The Nigerian striker's assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia went viral on social media and is proof he would fit in perfectly in Mauricio Pochettino's struggling team.

Osimhen provides assist in Napoli’s win

Sports Brief previously reported that Osimhen produced a brilliant assist to set up Kvaratskhelia's winning goal as Napoli overcame Cagliari on December 16.

The 24-year-old received the ball inside the area from Giacomo Raspadori and flicked it onto his chest before completing numerous kick-ups in the area.

Osimhen then headed the ball down before stretching out to fire it in the direction at Kvaratskhelia, who slid the ball into the back of the net from close range.

Osimhen presents POTY award to Napoli fans

Sports Brief also previously reported that Osimhen presented his CAF PoTY award to Napoli fans before their Serie A game against Cagliari on Saturday.

The Super Eagles star was crowned the best African player of 2023 after an outstanding year, leading his side to the title for the first time in 33 years.

Osimhen beat competition from Liverpool and Egypt ace, Mohamed Salah and Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender, Achraf Hakimi to claim it.
