Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has taken the Saudi Women's League by storm after netting her second hat-trick in the victory over rivals Al-Ahli in the Jeddah derby.
The Al-Ittihad star inspired her team to a resounding 6-2 victory as they climbed to second place on the league table, just two points behind Al-Nassr.
Al-Ittihad Ladies got off to a bright start after Pumptre and Nur Mustafa scored two quick-fire goals. The Nigerian extended the advantage on the half-hour mark after connecting to a Salma Amani assist.
Mustafa scored again in the 45th minute before Plumptre rounded up a magnificent first half with a ferocious strike from the halfway line, as reported by Footy Stats.
After the break, Al-Ahli pulled two back through Ibtissam Jraïdi and Ayah Faisal Ayed Al Majali but Layla Pascal Iskandar sealed victory for Al Ittihad late in the game.
"A blessing to experience every moment with this team. Enjoyed my first derby game with this group and grateful for the hattrick in front of our incredible fans," wrote Plumptre on social media after the game.
The former Leicester City defender joined the Saudi outfit in the summer transfer window.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre scored a hat-trick on her debut for Al-Ittihad in the opening game of the Saudi Arabian Women’s League.
The Tigresses secured a 3-0 win over Eastern Flames 3-0 at the Prince Fahad bin Salman Stadium.
The Nigerian international, who was part of the Super Falcons squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, took the Saudi league by storm in her first match.

Sports Brief also reported that Nigerian international Ashleigh Plumptre joined Saudi outfit Al Ittihad, where she will continue with her professional footballing career.
According to a statement by the Saudi outfit, the defender has left English club Leicester City Women on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old made the headlines following her impressive performances for the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia and New Zealand.
