FootballAlisson Gives Verdict on Andre Onana Ahead of Liverpool vs Man United Clash
- Alisson has backed Andre Onana to succeed at Manchester United
- The Cameroonian goalkeeper has conceded 40 goals this season
- Alisson and Onana will faceoff when Liverpool tackles Manchester United
Andre Onana has had a miserable start to his Manchester United career, but Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson expects the Cameroonian to turn it all around at Old Trafford soon.
The 27-year-old former Inter Milan goalie has made a string of high-profile gaffes since being signed by Erik ten Hag, with his errors playing a huge part in Man United’s Champions League elimination.
According to the Daily Mirror, Alisson believes his rival keeper Onana has all the skills to be successful in the Premier League but just needs time to adapt.
“Coming from an Italian club to England, to a big club, for a lot of money. This is a lot of responsibility over your shoulders and he came here with the responsibility to be the replacement for De Gea.
“I think he is capable of this responsibility, but sometimes it takes longer with some than others. You are changing team, you are changing league, they are trying to adapt and discover themselves and that can affect you a lot.”
Alisson and Onana will go head-to-head this weekend when Liverpool tackles Manchester United in a bid to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Man United to offload Onana
Meanwhile, Jim Ratcliffe’s first move in the transfer market as Manchester United owner will be to sell Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, Football Transfers reports.
Ratcliffe is finalising his minority stake in Man Utd, which will hand him full control of the club’s transfer market when the takeover of the Premier League outfit is finally complete.
Onana was expected to become a star at Old Trafford after his €51 million - plus €4m in bonuses - summer transfer from Inter Milan but the goalkeeper has struggled to gain his best form since arriving at Old Trafford.

FootballOnana among EPL's best goalkeepers
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Erik ten Hag rode to the defence of under-fire goalkeeper Andre Onana on Friday as he claimed the Cameroonian's stats prove he is among the Premier League's best.
Onana's start to his United career has been riddled with high-profile errors in the Champions League that have put the Red Devils on the brink of a group stage exit.
