- The 24-year-old has been a transfer target for Real Madrid in past transfer windows
Thierry Henry has shared his thoughts on Kylian Mbappe's future, cautioning against the French captain leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
With Mbappe's current contract with PSG set to expire in June 2024, he'll soon have the freedom to explore potential transfers with any club amid significant interest from top-tier teams like Liverpool and particularly Real Madrid.
Despite this, PSG, the 11-time French champions, remain hopeful of retaining their prized asset.
Henry advises Mbappe on future
The 24-year-old has been a prime target for Real Madrid for some time, and this upcoming window might be their final push to bring him to Bernabeu, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.
Yet, Thierry Henry, a fellow Frenchman and former Arsenal legend isn't convinced that such a move is necessary for the player.
"If I were Kylian Mbappe, I wouldn’t leave. I’d want to finish what I’ve started.
"I mean, why should he leave? He loves Paris; he was born in that city. You have to understand that," he said in the CBS Sports as quoted by Tribuna. "I want him to stay until the end."
What's next for Mbappe?
While his future remains a topical issue, Mbappe will channel his attention on PSG's upcoming games in the French top flight against Lille on Sunday, December 17, per GOAL.
Additionally, after helping PSG sneak out of the 'Group of Death' in the Champions League, the 2018 World Cup winner will learn of his side's opponents in the UCL knockouts when the draw for the round of 16 takes place on Monday, December 18, in Nyon, Switzerland.
