South African manager Rulani Mokwena has backed Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile to break another Premier Soccer League (PSL) record this season.
Shalulile is one of the best players in the DStv Premiership and arguably the best striker in the league.
The Namibian striker is known to be a deadly striker in front of goal and showed it recently in Sundowns' 3-0 win over Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday, December 13.
Mokwena in a recent interview claimed he is backing the Mamelodi Sundowns striker to break the longstanding PSL's highest goalscorer of all-time record, according to a report by FARPost.
The Namibian international's goal against Cape Town Spurs was his 111th goal in the PSL era which is 12 goals shy of Siyabonga Nomvethe's 123 goals in the competition.
"Long may it continue and I wish him all the best. I think without the injuries last season maybe we would be talking that he is already the top goalscorer of the Premier Soccer League in South Africa," he said.
The Masandawana coach also believes with the current crop of players at the club, Shalulile will surpass Nomvethe's PSL record.
“But I think with this group that he has, the teammates and the coaches around him and at this club, I am sure 100 per cent he will definitely surpass that," he added.
"Peter [Shalulile] is such an amazing human being. I must tell you I have never seen such a focus, I really don’t have the words."
