That the £82 million Manchester United forked out to sign Antony from Ajax last year is yet to bear fruit is now public knowledge.

After scoring in three successive games after his debut, the Brazilian has endured a torrid run of form since failing to land a regular starting spot in Erik ten Hag's side.

He only has one goal involvement in his last 25 games for the club, a run that is quite long considering he took an enforced leave in September to deal with an off-field issue with his ex-girlfriend.

Then against Bayern Munich on December 12, he drew the ire of Man United fans with one of his failed skills.

The Red Devils desperately needed a win to keep their European hopes alive, but the players put in another dull performance as the Bavarian giants completed the double over them.

Reactions to Antony's skill vs Bayern Munich

Antony came up face-to-face with Alphonso Davies on numerous occasions. At one point, the 23-year-old did a couple of mini stepovers before cheaply giving the ball away for a throw-in.

@Ebuka said:

"This Antony guy is a clown."

@United Ellis said;

"Never disliked a footballer so much in my life."

@Dios_Jnr said;

"I even doubt if he's Brazilian."

Antony and United will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Merseyside to take on Liverpool - the scene of their most embarrassing defeat in their history when they were thrashed 7-0 last season.

Ten Hag's possible replacements

Earlier, Sports Brief analysed six available world-class managers who could replace under-fire ten Hag at the helm of Man United.

The Dutchman has come under immense criticism in recent weeks owing to the Red Devils' struggles this season in all competitions.

United have endured a worrying run of inconsistencies in Europe and domestically, with the club unable to maintain momentum.
