City not only finished top of Group G but won every single fixture. As a result, they achieved a feat among English teams that previously only Liverpool could manage.

Manchester City’s relatively easier fixtures

In their quest to achieve a win in every game, Pep Guardiola’s men had to get past Crvena Zvezda, RB Leipzig, and BSC Young Boys.

Ironically, they scored three goals in every single game. They beat Leipzig 3-1 and 3-2 while getting past Young Boys 3-0 and 3-1. They also beat Zvezda 3-1 and 3-2.

Liverpool had it much harder

Jurgen Klopp’s men also achieved a clean sweep in the group stage but had much tougher opposition. The Reds had to get past Atletico Madrid, FC Porto, and AC Milan.

As noted by This is Anfield, they became the first English side to win all of their group games in the Champions League.

Liverpool continued their winning ways as they went all the way to the final during that tournament. They were sadly beaten by Real Madrid in the final, thanks to a solitary goal by Vinicius Junior, ESPN reported.

Manchester City among 13 'perfect' UCL teams

Only two teams have managed to secure victories in all six of their matches during the group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League.

This marks the conclusive instalment of the tournament's current format, as a new structure is set to be introduced, as Sports Brief reported.

Man City achieved a historic milestone by finishing the UCL group stage with a perfect record of six wins of six, joining an elite group in the process.
