- A Paris Saint-Germain defender has named Ronaldo among his most formidable foes
Cristiano Ronaldo will undoubtedly go down in football’s storied history as one of the finest players to ever grace the perimeters of a football field.
The 38-year-old, who currently plies his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr, has consistently proven to be a formidable adversary for elite European defenders.
One such player, who recently opened up about the daunting experience of facing the former Real Madrid star, is Paris Saint-Germain defender, Lucas Hernandez.
In a recent interview with French outlet Le Parisien, the 27-year-old discussed various topics, including his team's prospects in the UEFA Champions League and the most impressive opponent he has come up against.
Hernandez on his most impressive opponent
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, who recently made the move from Bayern Munich to the French capital, as reported by ESPN, was asked about his most impressive opponent.
Quoted by PSG Report, Hernandez remarked:
"Which attackers impressed me the most? If I have to pick one, I might say Kylian [Mbappé]. It's never easy to defend against such fast players.
"When I was at Bayern, he hurt us in the Champions League in 2021. When I was at (Atlético) Madrid, I played derbies against Cristiano Ronaldo. What a player, he had everything."
Hernandez's sentiments mirror the feelings of many elite defenders across Europe.
While he currently enjoys a temporary break from facing Ronaldo and his teammate Mbappe, the PSG defender hopes to lead his side to a crucial victory in the upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.
